About Palestine

About

Since 1917, Palestinians have been forced to leave their homeland. The Six-Day War in 1967 changed the map of Palestine, separating the country into two parts: West Bank in the north and Gaza in the south. Palestine’s territory was getting smaller throughout the years as it’s occupied by Zionist Israel. Now, what remains of Palestine is only 5% of its original total area.

By the end of 2017, millions of Palestinians were again in a devastating state. It was triggered by the superpower’s unilateral declaration which stated Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

Last August 2017, Palestinians were restricted to worship in al-Aqsa Compound. The Holy Site which is in al-Quds or Jerusalem area was closed and guarded by Israeli army. They were not allowed to perform both Friday and daily prayers inside the mosque, nor they could sound adzan (prayer call).

THE HISTORY

British Government declared that a “national home for Jewish” would be built in Palestine. Civil and religious rights of non-Jewish communities in Palestine would be preserved.
United Nations Partition Plans for Palestine (Resolution 181) proposed a creation of independent Arab and Jewish States. This caused a devastating condition in Palestine where more than 170,000 Palestinians lost jobs and 500 villages were ruined.
Israel launched military attack in Egypt, Jordan and Syria, taking the control over Sinai, Gaza, West Bank Golan Heights and Jerusalem. This was the beginning of Israeli illegal settlement in those areas.
Palestinians rose to fight the unfair decision and Israeli occupation in Gaza and West Bank. The peaceful rally was first initiated as all Palestinians, who were mostly unarmed, refused the Israeli occupation in their country.
Israel blocked land, air and sea on Gaza Strip areas, restricting the mobilization of people and goods from and to Gaza.
Israel attacked Gaza Strip after the Palestinian Government was established. More than 2,000 Palestinian people were killed (mostly civilians).
Israeli Police closed Al-Aqsa Mosque, prohibiting Palestinian Muslim to perform prayers. The event took place after Israel killed 3 Palestinians and wounded one of Imams of Al-Aqsa Mosque. The compound was reopened not long after that, but security measures were set around Al-Aqsa.
The controversial decision announced by the superpower, stating Jerusalem as Israel’s new capital, enraged Palestinians. Protest was held along The Old City of Jerusalem to West Bank, Gaza. As a result, 4 civilians died, while hundreds of others were injured. Some of them were innocent children.

Al - Quds IS OUR HOLY LAND

The controversial decision announced by the superpower, stating Jerusalem as Israel’s new capital, upset millions of Palestinians. Protest was held by hundreds of Palestinians along The Old City of Jerusalem to West Bank, Gaza.
